Changeover

Right now I’m attempting to switch the front page over to Wordpress, while keeping the photo and movie pages in iWeb. Once I can get it all into Wordpress I’ll dump iWeb until an update that makes me happy. It’s really an experiment, so who knows, this could be gone in a week and all will be back to normal. Things I’m trying to make happen in Wordpress that won’t work in iWeb include
- comments that actually work(without having to pay Apple $99 a year). This is my number one problem with iWeb. I don’t care if one person out of 1,000 wants to make a comment, I’d like it to actually work when that one person does it.
- more control over the header, I like the possiblity of showing different images every time someone visits
- making the site simpler, possibly giving Britnie the opportunity to make posts, something that is too complicated in iWeb, each post and upload is a 30 minute deal
So in the next week johnsenclan.com/wordpress will become johnsenclan.com. Any bookmarks that use iWebs weird naming (johnsenclan.com/johnsenclan/home.html) should be updated so they point to johnsenclan.com. Also this should help me learn a little CSS, and although it doesn’t deal with it much, database.
Grrr, add one more reason to the list of why I’m switching. Even though the bullet points show up on my iWeb version of the front page, they don’t work once it’s published.
