At work we had a fund of money for hitting a certain sales goal, and I suggested that they just give everybody the 20 bucks and leave it at that. But no, they had to have something tangable. So now half the employees will get scented soaps and candles, or DVD movies (probably R rated or G rated) that no one will like. Tisk tisk.

Yeah, Britnie really felt bad that she'd invited people. The school, and especially Sid's teacher, really made it seem like a bigger and better deal than it turned out to be. If we would have know, we would have just rented her a movie and celebrated at home.

I couldn't believe that the school didn't have someone up in front leading the children in Halloween songs or something to get them settled down. We had to sit in the back because we were on chairs, and that is where the line was for the cotton candy. It was so noisy and confusing, and they kept turning up the volume on the movie to cover that noise. This was after 20 minutes of someone yelling at the kids to be quiet before the movie started (over and over again because it wasn't set up right). All in all, it was a poor excuse for a party. Britinie and JoLynn were the saints for sticking it out. I left after an hour because the movie was so loud it nearly drove me to tears.
Jennifer had a lousy first grade teacher. The teacher couldnt' even spell words right! We tried to get her moved to no avail. We just did a lot of supplemental work at home, and we all survived it, but it was a major pain!

That is wonderful about being the top reader. I am so proud of her! Soda as a prize? I thought that schools were trying to promote healthy eating these days. Aren't high schools and junior highs thinking about taking away candy and pop machines?
