Photo a Day 39

My dad and Wy.
This morning I discovered the one thing that Sid is going to be able to get me on every time (alright, I already knew, but this morning sealed the deal).
First some history. I love video games. Other than books, games are the thing that can always cheer me up, help me relax and generally just make things better. Mom always had a computer for work, so I was playing games from the time I was tiny. Right after I got married, Brit and I got a Nintendo 64 and spent hours playing Mario Kart against each other.
So when my daughter discovered video games, and really liked them, I geeked out. We’ve played hours together on the Xbox and Gamecube. Mario Kart, Lego Star Wars, Curious George and so on. Last year I went overboard buying Christmas presents for Brit and Sid, so this year Britnie said she wanted to get me something big. We opened a separate savings account to add to throughout the year. I already knew what I wanted to get, and Xbox 360. I’ve loved the Xbox we have, and figured the new one would be just as fun. Everything was going according to plan, and then I saw the Nintendo Wii (the site may be slow, it launched today). It’s different than other game consoles. The controls are motion sensing, so you lean the control left, and the character on screen moves left, you slash like a sword, the character onscreen slashes his sword.
I ran home and grabbed Britnie and Sid so they could come try it. Britnie said while I watched Sid play she thought I was going to tearing up from happiness. Sidney was having a blast. So the Xbox plans went out the window, and this morning at 5 am I was standing outside Target to make sure I got one of these things for Christmas. I turned out to be #43 of the 48 they had. Now I have to be strong enough to keep it in it’s box instead of opening it so we can play together.
So no Xbox this year, maybe I’ll find something really violent that only I can play on the Wii to make up for it.
