C is for Conifer

When Sidney was a year or two old we found a great CD by They Might Be Giants, NO! It’s fun kid’s music that is good enough that it didn’t drive me crazy when we’d listen to it. The songs are fun with well-written lyrics, my personal favorite being Fibber Island. Edison Museum, a tour from the ghost of Thomas Edison is a close second. We lost the cd for a while when we moved. I found it recently when looking for stuff in the basement, so we started listening again. After chekcing to see what TMBG were up to now, I discovered the GREATEST CHILDREN’S CD OF ALL TIME.
Here Come the ABC’s is awesome. After a week it’s now Sid’s favorite music to listen to, and the free DVD that came with it is in heavy rotation. The songs are so good that I occasionally listen to it on my own, and find myself humming C is for Conifer or Fake Believe while I’m at work. If you have children, and are sick of listening to Disney movie music or Mozart, you must buy this cd right now.
More clips on the They Might Be Giants kids website. Up next for the band, Here Come the 123’s.
I hate almost all childrens music. When I put on music while feeding Tanner it’s usually James Taylor or Norah Jones.
We used to listen to Natalie Merchant and 10,000 Maniacs when Sidney was a baby. The reason I like these two TMBG cd’s is they’re so different from most children’s music.
