52 books a year
Jan 8th, 2008 by jeremy
Most of my reading has turned to books on tape. I have plenty of time at work to listen to my iPod, and my time at night seems to shrink every year. Jamie has decided he’s going to be reading 52 books, one a week, for 2008. Every person that does it can write a short review of their book for that week, submit it to him, and he’ll post a link to your review. I think it’s a great way to challenge yourself to keep reading no matter how busy you are, as well as finding recommendations for new reading material from people you know. Here’s the link to his proposal, as well as a his first review.
I’m getting a late start, but the review for my first book, Persopolis, will come sometime this week.
Woo! Make with the reading!
52 books is ambitious. I think I read 40 last year, but I’ll be lucky to read that many this year. I guess it means I’ll have to be more selective about what I read now than I had to be in the past.
Very ambitious. I think that I have read less this past year than the few years before that. I’ve decided that I need to get back on board. I think I will be a bit more realistic with myself and say three a month. Thanks for the suggestion.
By the way, I really enjoy reading your blog and getting to know you better. It’s seems like just yesterday you, Jennifer, John and I were running around in irrigation water at your house throwing too ripe apples at each other. Good times.
LOOOOVE the Kiterunner. I have it and am willing to share. I also have his other book. I just read Three Cups of Tea which is about Pakistan and the movement to build schools for girls there. It is a good book and we will be discussing it in one of my book groups this month. I’m looking for Barak Obama’s books to read if you have them.
Ah, I just got the Obama book from the library, sorry. Then I liked it so much I downloaded the audio book.
