I don’t beat my son

One of the first things people say when they see Wyatt (after “he’s getting so big” or “look at that smile”) is “what happened to his eye, did he fall?. He’s had a large red spot, that looks like a burst blood vessel under his eye for as long as I can remember. Sometimes it looks a little bigger and brighter, sometimes it looks like it’s almost going to disappear. It doesn’t hurt, it just looks weird. Burst blood vessels are supposed to fade away after a week or two, this just sticks around for who know how long.
Now here’s the strange thing. When I was young I had the exact same thing for years, until my late teens if I remember correctly. That seems so strange that both of us would get this thing under our eye, that I assume isn’t a birthmark because it fades away(at least in my case). I’ve Googled around a few times to try to find more information, but everything talks about burst blood vessels inside the eye, nothing around it.
Any ideas?
