Isn’t he too young for those jokes?

Britnie usually puts Wyatt to sleep, and she’s established a pretty good pattern. He drinks some water while she reads him stories, then she turns off the light and they rock while she sings songs. She told me lately he’s having her skip the songs, but when I put him to bed he’s usually pretty insistent that I sing to him. Last night was my turn, and after we read for a while I sang my staple bedtime songs, Three Little Monkeys, California Girls, Last Kiss(the Pearl Jam version), Old MacDonald and Fake Believe until we got to the last one, the ABC song,
“A, B, C, D”
He’s usually snuggled in pretty good by the last song, it’s nice that he still cuddles, even if it’s only at night.
“E, F, G”
We’re also rocking his baby, he loves the doll Sidney gave him and made sure she was singing songs with us.
“H, I, J, K”
He says k after I sing it, he must like the sound it makes.
“L, M, N, O, P”
He starts laughing, “Pee, Pee” he says, then laughs again, “Dada Pee”. He looks at me and I start laughing too, I’m realizing my son just made his first bodily function joke. The first of what I assume will be many while he’s growing up.
“Q, R, S”
He’s still quietly chuckling at the joke he made.
“T, U, V”
He snuggles back in again, but I’m still trying to hold in laughter while I sing. I can tell he’s getting tired, but he still has a smile on his face, probably thinking about the urine-themed joke he’d made, obviously proud that he’d made the connection. This is a great moment, I have to remember it and the smile on his face.
“W, X, Y and Z”
I’m reminding myself to tell Britnie, her back is hurting and this will take her mind off it for a minute or two.
“Now I know my ABC’s, next time won’t you sing with me”.
That is so funny. What a stincker.
I can’t believe he is startig so young.
