Birthday Dessert
Feb 19th, 2008 by britnie
On Sunday it was Tanner’s 1st birthday. It was a lot of fun going to Josh and Brooke’s house and seeing it for the first time. It is a very cute house and Tanner was very cute as usual. Jeremy had requested I make chocolate chip cookies for dessert.
Chocolate Chip Cookies
2 cups crisco shortening
1 cup sugar
2 cup brown sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
4 eggs
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. soda
4 cups and 8 tablespoons of flour
Mix add one ingredient at a time and mix again before adding another ingredient.
Bake at 350 degrees for 9-13 min.
I bake the cookies until they are starting to turn brown around the edge of the cookie. If you cook them longer they turn hard and are not chewy. Let cool on cookie tray for atleast 10 mins. The heat from the cookie tray allows them to cook longer on the hot tray without being in the oven.
Enjoy

It doesn’t matter that you have the recipe, Britnie does something spectacular to them. I can copy her recipe, and something never tastes right. I can follow her directions for baking, and they always come out soggy or burned. She’s perfected these things.
Jeremy, I was thinking the same thing when I read the recipe. I could use the recipe, but they just won’t taste the same. Oh, and when I think of how I gorge on those things, I now should think of the amount of Crisco I am putting in my arteries (or, maybe not).
Yup, lots of Crisco. I don’t know if she’s ever tried it with butter or not.
Britnie, you are the best chocolate chip cookie baker! I love these things and always look forward to family gatherings when you bring them. I had no idea they had so much Crisco in them! Isn’t it funny how fat adds so much flavor.
I admit that when you offered to bring something your cookies popped in the back of my head. I didn’t want to ask but I was sure glad you offered. Brooke and I make a lot of cookies, but mine sure never turn out like this.
Thanks everyone. I’m glad you enjoy them.
I always love Britnie’s cookies.
