Softball practice

Well after the trauma of that first trip to the batting cages, we gave it some time, and after a little coaxing, Sid decided to give it one more shot. So we had a long talk about how even proffesional players don’t hit it every time, and we were sure she would be as good as everyone else. We went to the batting cages again, with lower expectations, and she enjoyed it a lot more. She was still nervous because she thought the other kids would be so much better than she was.
It took her a little while to get into it, but she has a very patient coach. And like I suspected, most of these seven-year-olds are swinging wildly with almost no hope of hitting the ball without a lot of luck. She did great, hitting the ball a bunch of times, and after two practices, her throwing is great as well. Best of all she’s having fun doing it.

And in the great Johnsen tradition, we celebrated with ice cream

I am so glad that she gave it another shot. She is so fast that I’m sure she’ll be great at running the bases. The picture of Wyatt is so cute. That is the best way to enoy ice cream.
I can’t wait to go to a game. Be sure to keep us in the loop.
