Photowalking in Ogden
On Saturday I joined a group of photographers in Ogden to walk around 25th street and Union Station taking pictures. Photowalking Utah gets together about once a month somewhere in Utah and this time it was in Ogden.

We met up at Union Station and took an hour to walk around and climb on the trains before heading up 25th street. There are a lot of old buildings and great architecture in the area. It’s kind of fun being around so many people with cameras, usually I look like the lone geek walking around with my camera out wherever I go with my family (thankfully they don’t get too embarrased).

The other nice part about the group was getting suggestions for shots, how to take certain pictures, and the bravest asking total strangers if they wouldn’t mind that 20 cameras were suddenly being pointed at them.

We stopped in one area for a quick impromptu lighting demonstration, got a few shots in the alleys, then headed back to Union Station to do some strobist shots with what seemed to be eight or nine flashes spread between everyone.

At the end of the night we met Hobo Joe and Hobo Jim (hey, that’s what they were calling themselves) wh were about to hop a train to Pocatello to eventually end up in New Orleans. They didn’t mind modeling for us and explaining the ins and outs of riding trains and living off practically nothing.

It was a great time, this was the first Photowalking Utah event I’ve been too, but I’m looking forward to a lot more. Thank you to AvarieRiot for organizing the walk, and see more photographers impressions of the walk here. Nateperro and RoryW have pictures of the group.

That sounds like something your dad would enjoy. It sounds like it was a very interesting day.
I’m bummed I missed it. Hopefully work or school won’t interefere with the next one.
Very cool. Nice shots.
